RIGA FACILITY DESCRIPTION
Global Ethanol Riga is located in Michigan’s Lenawee County
between the cities of Blissfield and Riga approximately 16 miles Northwest of Toledo, OH in a Renaissance Development Zone.
Riga is a traditional dry-mill ethanol production plant that utilizes Delta-T technology and was commissioned in March 2007 with a name-plate capacity of 54 million gallons per year of 200 proof ethanol.
Plant Facts:

- produces 164,000 tons per year of Distillers Dried Grains with Solubles (DDGS)

- operates 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week and 365 days-a-year
The Future:
Global Ethanol Riga will be capturing their carbon dioxide in a partnership with Pain Enterprises through the construction of a CO2 plant to be commissioned adjacent to the plant in late 2008. In addition, Global Ethanol Riga expects to begin production of corn oil extracted from the corn syrup in late 2008.
GENERAL PLANT RULES
- Our site prohibits the use of any type of tobacco products.
- All visitors to the plant must report to the main office.
- Damage or theft of Contractor or GLOBAL ETHANOL tools, equipment or property must be reported immediately to the Global Ethanol plant job engineer or job supervisor for the completion and filing of damage and/or theft reports.
- Possession, use, sale, purchase or being under the influence of an illegal drug or alcohol while on GLOBAL ETHANOL property, or reporting to work with detectable levels of an illegal drug is prohibited.
- The use of or being under the influence of any legally obtained drug or inhalant while on GLOBAL ETHANOL property is prohibited if its use or influence may affect the safety of the employee,
co-workers or the public.
- Possession of firearms/weapons on GLOBAL ETHANOL property is prohibited.
- Sleeping, reading materials, personal pagers and/or cell phones are prohibited while working on GLOBAL ETHANOL property.
- Be aware of your surroundings - take time to become familiar with the immediate work area.
- Wear close-fitting, buttoned clothing and avoid 'loose' jewelry (dangling earrings, necklaces,etc.) to prevent becoming entangled in moving equipment. We require long sleeve shirts within our facility. Outerwear must be natural fiber or made of flame resistant material.
- WALK - do not run - in the plant; NO HORSEPLAY!
- Don't take shortcuts at the expense of safety or quality.
- Lift with your legs, not with your back; ask your supervisor for additional help if necessary
- Don't hang tools, toolbelts or clothing on motors, switches, valve handles, safety equipment, etc.
- When opening crates, bend nails/staples over to prevent puncture wounds or scratches.
- Use pathways that are appropriate for walkways; avoid shortcuts through potentially hazardous areas.
- Roll hoses up and store properly to prevent trip hazards.
- Visibility is often reduced (especially in cold weather) from cooling tower vapors; turn on vehicle lights, slow down and be prepared for the unexpected.
- Take the necessary time to perform a thorough hazard assessment prior to starting job.
Ethanol loading and grain receiving hours
Grain receiving hours are 7:30 am to 3:30 pm
Ethanol load out hours are 5:00 am – 3:00 pm
